Odds are you have heard of Pure Barre before. With over 450 franchise locations around the world, it’s one of the most popular workouts you can find. That, for some people (trying to be hipsters), is reason enough to not give this barre class a shot. NEWSFLASH: There is a reason Pure Barre is so popular, and there is a reason you should at least give it a try.
My twin sister is a Barre instructor in Chicago. I have been subjected to a lot of Barre classes in my life. It (barre in general) perhaps is one of my least favorite workouts because how mentally infuriating it is to experience muscle fatigue with almost no weight and tiny tiny movements. That being said, I might have (did) actually loved Pure Barre Southpark. I may have also met my spirit animal/person, Caroline York, the Owner of this studio, in the process.
For those of you who know me, you know that I have the attention span of a ping pong ball in a Powerball lottery machine. Slow, small, repetitive, isometric movements are not my thing...but that is what Pure Barre is. So how/why do I like it? Maybe because I’m on the same level as Caroline who has the attention span of a golden retriever in a squirrel parade. But probably (actually), it's because the exercise includes stretching after working each muscle group to fatigue throughout class. After every round of intense shake, we stretched.
Moral of the story: I think you will like Pure Barre - even if you don’t like Barre. I think you will like Pure Barre even if you already do love Barre. I think you will like Pure Barre simply because Caroline is awesome. Try it for the workout. Try it for the stretching. Try it for the people. Try it because it's next to Southpark mall. Try it because it's next to Pacos Tacos and across the street from Cowfish. I mean... you’re not going to regret trying it.
