Nothing Usual about The Usual - Charlotte's Fashion on Wheels

I have never been a very good shopper. I mean - I avoid it like the plague. Luckily for me, my genetic clone (aka my twin sister Sophie) has the opposite problem. For the past 20 some years, shopping and “borrowing” were words I used synonymously. Since moving to Charlotte, I’ve had limited access to my favorite shopping (borrowing) center, Sophie’s closet, and have had to actually start forming my own closet of things that I don’t have to worry about giving back. This has been a slow and relatively painful process, but I recently stumbled upon a fun new way to shop that I actually can’t get enough of!

Remember Airstream RV’s? (If you were born in the past 30 years...maybe not) The over-sized tin pill capsule on wheels dating as far back as the 1930’s? Well they’re making a comeback here in Charlotte and instead of serving their usual, family cross-country purpose, they’ve been refurbished to serve as boutiques on wheels!

“The Usual” is a mobile boutique for unique athleisure apparel (you know..the stuff you wear to feel athletic but actually don’t need to do anything athletic in). You will find only the comfiest, softest, most fashionably funny pieces here and the Owner Meg only has a few of each so you’re likely to be one of a few in town to have it! A mix of her own designs and other athleisure brands such as good hYOUman and Luciana, The Usual has a phenomenal collection of sweet clothes with witty humor you’ll never want to take off, jewels and accessories!

Over a year long journey just to get this dream started Meg and her husband said #dreambig and they meant it. Refurbishing the Silver Dollar airstream RV nicknamed “Silvy D” from the ground up (literally - check out the website for the full story) these two taught themselves to rivet, deconstruct and then reconstruct to make this old piece of tin the sparkling beaut she is today! A charming and inspiring story, the journey of “Silvy D” and the adventures of The Usual boutique have just begun.

I couldn’t have been more excited to stumble upon this treasure box of gems and so quick to add to my ever growing closet. Fashion on the go is something I can jump on board with and if you’ve never tried it, you’re in for a treat! The Usual teams with local events, festivals, home parties and even fitness studios to spread the love and get women into their “Usual” outfit. We were fortunate enough to bump into “The Usual” while they were parked out front of Cyclebar Midtown.
