Randy Who? | STAX #SweatDate

As it turn’s out, I have no idea who Randy Moss is. If you live in Charlotte and are remotely interested in CrossFit, and don’t know what STAX is… well… the rock you are living under is probably even bigger than mine. It’s okay. We are here for each other.

Randy Moss, for the few of you who, like me, don’t watch football, was one of the most dominant wide receivers to play the game. You can check out his Wikipedia page if you want to see his statistics and all that fun stuff, or you can just take my boyfriends word for it - he was “a beast.” So yeah, why am I talking about Randy Moss? Well, he ALSO just happens to run (along with some other amazing athletes) one of the biggest boot camps IN THE WORLD here in your hometown of Charlotte, NC at STAX.

Not only did I not know this, nor know who he was, but I also didn’t recognize him when I walked into STAX CrossFit a few weeks ago for a #SweatDate. If a six time pro-bowler wide-receiver works out and trains at a facility - you can probably assume that it is pretty top notch. That assumption would be spot on here.

Today’s class was not with Mr. Moss, rather with Devon, the lead instructor for CrossFit (who although extremely qualified) was definitely less intimidating than a 6’4” NFL all-star. Devon was welcoming, helpful and friendly as he oriented us and the rest of the class around the “box”. Once you walk in the doors, the space is expansive, well organized, with a nice attention to detail. If you ever were an athlete, it made you feel like you were in the right place. If you weren’t ever an athlete, it made you feel like one.

The classes can have a full range of size at STAX. We specifically sought out a smaller class for a little bit more one on one attention from Devon because I am still a CrossFit newbie. This is something that can be very helpful if you are at all intimidated by CrossFit. Call the studio ahead of time and ask when they have emptier classes. This will allow you to get an almost personal training session for the price of group fitness. Also, don’t be intimidated by the experienced CrossFitters next to you (or Randy Moss), they are friendly and good motivation to create some goals for yourself.

STAX is an excellent CrossFit gym with just about everything you could look for in a large and modern space. They are also expanding on site to include Yoga (see our #SweatDate), CRYO therapy, and Spinning. So get out from under your rock and go check out STAX.
