When I say “STAX” you probably think of CrossFit and perhaps boot-camp. Guess what? They do Yoga now too! That’s right, STAX just opened their yoga studio this last month and we jumped on board to try it.
Known for their CrossFit gym and boot-camp, STAX just unrolled the mat to their new yoga and cycling studios in addition to a cryotherapy studio. With two beautiful spaces and lots of light coming through huge windows, the ambiance is, quite frankly, unexpectedly amazing. While it is still up and coming, STAX yoga should definitely not be overlooked as a feeble addition to a CrossFit gym. STAX yoga is superb.
Without a real gauge on “regular numbers,” today’s Friday night class was smaller than many other studios I have visited with only 4 of us attending. If you are like me, this is actually a huge appeal. I get distracted easily, so with a smaller class I was able to focus on my own motions. The class was individualized and intimate for a refreshing and rejuvenating 50 minute flow. Kris Brooks our instructor led us through a beautiful and relaxing practice. After a little bit of everything, we were able to address the individual needs of the other students as well as my own. This ability to cater class to the individuals taking it is the real treat for me, hello hip and shoulder openers!

The space is lit with several Himalayan salt lamps and the wall art is a motivating addition. The words are bold and simple, but you can connect to it while feeling motivated, encouraged and inspired. All good vibes around this place and the calm and peace in your own mind is found quickly upon walking in and getting set-up. Kris’s voice transcends you and your breath deeper into your practice. While we laughed and talked we also worked and stretched. It was a great balance and grounding for a Friday night and set me up for the weekend activities.
With several entrances, STAX is a huge enterprise. You don’t really need to worry about going in the “wrong” or “right” doors because they will all get you where you need to go. If that matters to you though, the front doors for the yoga portion of the studio are in the middle of the building with the sign saying “STAX CRYO” above. The front desk staff are extremely helpful and will get you all checked in. While I took the regular vinyasa the heated vinyasa is no joke. I walked into the hot yoga room after class and it was still boiling. Stax will lend you a Yoga mat to use if you don’t have one or forget to bring it like I somehow do every time.
Whether you’re looking for a stunning space to practice yoga, or a little bit ( a lot ) of everything in one place, you’ll be able to find something that suits you at STAX. In the business of health and fitness, STAX takes it to the next level, offering you a ton of killer options all under one roof. While they’re wrapping up their free month of December they are headed into January ready to hit the ground running. Check them out, they will surprise you in a very good way.
Stay tuned for our #SweatDate with STAX Crossfit coming soon!
