This is Sweat and Sweets. Simply put, Sweat and Sweets is a web magazine, or blog, focused on fitness, food, health and happiness in and around the Queen City.

We are just regular people documenting our regular lives with one simple goal; Be happy and healthy.

In figuring out what we are and what Sweat and Sweets will be, it is important to know what we are not. We are not about losing weight or counting calories. We aren’t a gossip column or the opinion section of the newspaper here to take sides. We aren’t a gluten free recipe blog. We aren’t here to bring you down. Sweat and Sweets isn’t about loving your selfies. We are about loving yourself - whatever that means for you.

We are here to share our journey as we discover the fitness and food gems of the Queen City. Sweat and Sweets will take you with us as we explore sweat spots and sweet spots, new and old, and put them in the spotlight for you to try. Fitness is as diverse as we are. It is something that should be as discriminatory as your taste for food. Find what works for you. Fitness should be as enjoyable as the food you eat (if not more). If it isn’t, you simply haven't found what works for you yet.

Far too often we see fitness goals, food goals, and life goals focused on artificial targets. Food and Fitness should do to you and for you what it does to us. It should make you feel awesome. We believe that health should be well rounded. Did you eat the whole box of Oreos? So did we. This isn’t about shaming you. We do not run an army boot-camp, but we will go to them occasionally. We are not drill sergeants. This is about recognizing and accepting that we are all human beings. Just like you, we need days to sit in our sweats and eat ice cream(s) while watching Netflix in the dark too. Life is short and while we are here, we should enjoy it. So we are here to help you find those high notes. Sweat and Sweets is as much about finding balance as it is embracing the chaos and the calm.

Become a connoisseur of your life - We aim to meet and explore Charlotte’s fitness studios, restaurants, shoppes, pop-ups, food trucks, dog parks and anything and everything that might make your heart beat a little faster. Life is also about adventuring out of your comfort zone. So when our journey takes us out of Charlotte, we’ll share those goodies with you too. Tips, tricks and a little fun to keep you inspired, happy and healthy in this journey we call Life.

At Sweat and Sweets, we believe that life is meant to be shared. Sharing is caring. Literally. Let us help you connect with anyone and anything that might challenge you, grow you, inspire you, change you. We promise to be authentic, to bring you the truth, to share our vulnerable and laughable moments. We promise to keep it real. Because in the end, that’s what life is really about.

Founder of Sweat and Sweets

Grace is a Chicago area native who grew up on the beautiful north shores of Lake Michigan. Walking before she learned to crawl, her path was always just that, hers. Even as a twin she developed her own individuality and personality that has been the driving force for her success.

From Chicago, Indiana, Iowa, New Hampshire, Hawaii, and now Charlotte, Grace’s journey has taken her many places. Swimming the 100m, 200m backstroke and butterfly, she competed on division-one swim teams throughout her collegiate career.

Grace continued her fitness career as a triathlete, marathon, and half-marathoner with a quest to complete a half marathon in every state before she turns 30. Trained in Olympic style lifting, she has always tried to develop a diverse fitness skill set.

After working as a project manager for 3 years, Grace traded in her hardhat and business clothes for sweatbands and Nikes when she moved to Charlotte. Grace made it her goal to share her love for adventure, health and fitness to help people live happier lives. New to Charlotte, this journey will be as new for her as it will be for you sharing all of the Sweat and Sweets.
